The cold snap is set to continue as Met Eireann has forecast teeth-chattering conditions this week.
The mercury is set to hit the lows of -4 degrees with wintry showers including rain and sleet. A Status Yellow snow/ice warning is in place for Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo until 9am this morning.
The alert reads: "Snow showers leading to some accumulations. Icy stretches too." Additionally, a separate Status Yellow snow/ice warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon is also in place until 9am this morning warning of "scattered sleet and snow showers with some accumulations possible. Icy stretches likely."

Furthermore, Met Eireann also issued a week-long weather advisory for the whole country that is due to expire this Friday. The warning says: "Staying cold until Friday with sharp to severe frosts and icy stretches on roads and footpaths. Some showers of hail, sleet and snow are expected with the potential for freezing fog."
Today will be a cold but mostly dry day with sunny spells and isolated wintry showers expected. Temperatures will be around 3 or 4 degrees.
Tonight will be freezing with frost and icy stretches that could lead to hazardous conditions. It will be largely dry with clear spells although wintry showers are possible early on. Temperatures will hit the lows of -2 or -1 degrees.
Tomorrow will be dry and cold with sunny spells and the highest temperatures will be around 3 or 4 degrees. There is no further forecast for Dublin but here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:
Thursday night
"Another very cold night with minimum temperatures of -4 to -1 degrees. It will be dry with clear spells early on but it will become cloudy overnight and rain or sleet will develop across Connacht, Munster and parts of south Leinster. Patches of mist and fog are likely, in light and variable winds.
Friday
"Rain or sleet in the west and south will clear southwards during Friday. Highest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees, coldest in Ulster and Connacht, with a light southerly or variable wind.
Friday night
"Cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +6 degrees, coldest in Ulster, with a light to moderate southerly wind.
Saturday
"Dull with patches of rain and drizzle. Milder with temperatures rising to 7 to 11 degrees, in a moderate southerly breeze.
Saturday night
"Much milder than recent nights, with minimum temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees, in a light to moderate southerly wind. Cloudy with rain in most areas, heaviest in the west and southwest."
