Dublin's first outdoor folk and trad festival returns to Marlay Park

Dublin's first ever outdoor folk and traditional music festival, Feile Nasc, is returning to Marlay Park this summer.

The highly anticipated festival makes its grand return after its inaugural event in 2019 on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

The one day festival will run from 1pm until 10pm with a packed line-up of folk and traditional musical artists, including much loved national treasures as well as local up and coming musical artists.

The name of the event, Nasc, means "connection" in Irish, and the festival aims to highlight and celebrate the connection between language, culture and music, creating a family friendly cultural experience in the picturesque surroundings of Marlay Park.

The line-up for the day is pretty stacked. Acts gearing up to perform to folk and trad lovers this May include Paul Brady, Daoiri Farrell, Aidan Connolly, Dublin Lasses, Strange Boy, Cathal Croke, Caitlin & Ciaran, Inni K and The Bonny Men.

There will be two stages at the festival with iconic singer Paul Brady headlining this year's event. The festival also includes a large children's activity area featuring a forest camp, drumming workshop, karaoke.

Additionally, attendees will be treated to an extensive selection of food and drink vendors including local brewers and artisan food stalls.

As expected, Irish language will play a central role in the celebrations throughout the day.

Julie Stokes from Feile Nasc told Dublin Live that the idea for the festival came from a group of teachers who one night over beers realised that there was no outdoor trad and folk music festival for them to go to. Very quickly, they came up with an impressive festival with a stellar line-up of acts.

The festival also aims to have all operations as sustainable as possible. Attendees are encouraged to travel by carpool, by foot, using public transport or cycling.

Meanwhile all food vendors will be offering compostable cutlery and containers and there will be a bin system designed to minimise the festival's environmental impact.

Tickets for Feile Nasc are available to purchase here.
