Dublin pub of the week: The trendy Stoneybatter boozer that is an Irish legend's local haunt

Hyne's Bar, located on Prussia Street in Stoneybatter, is comprised of classic Dublin pub interiors and a beer garden surrounded by intriguing art, some of which pays tribute to a local legend who gained internet fame years ago.

That legend is Paddy Losty, a man who "wouldn't be fond of the drinking" but went viral for his love of pints. Paddy is nicknamed the "pintman" after Publin.ie shared a picture of him taken from a booked titled Dublin Pub Life and Lore by Kevin C Kearns.

Hyne's is believed to be one of the local haunts Paddy would have frequented. While it retains its old timey charm, its recent facelift brings a new life to the venue which has become popular with Dubs on the hunt for a unique watering hole in the area.

"A lot of people are shocked sometimes. When you first walk in, you just think it's kind of an old man pub but then you walk out to the beer garden and it's really hipsterish and vibey," Natasha of Hyne's previously told Dublin Live.

Since its grand opening last year, Hyne's has delved into hosting an array of events such as trad sessions, open mic nights and markets that bring together local craftspeople from the area.

In addition to the pouring of classic pints and an atmosphere that you would expect from a proper Dublin pub with such a history, Hyne's marries that with food and cocktails.

Having partnered with Dosa Dosa, which serves up delicious south Indian street food, the specific food offering is a daring choice, but one that brings visitors an opportunity to try dishes they are likely to fall in love with.

Meanwhile the cocktail list includes some inviting entries and every Tuesday, you will get two of them for €12.

For the gaeilgeoirs among us, Thursday nights consist of plenty of Irish speaking and trad music. You'll even get €1 off your drink if you order it as gaeilge.
