Dublin has been named the least affordable city in Europe for monthly broadband costs as thousands of workers continue to work from home.
The cost of living, in general, continues to rise across the board and so many people will have expected these results given the rise in utility bills in recent months.
The report, conducted by comparison website NerdWallet, analysed the top 30 most populated European cities and ranked them based on which have the most and least affordable monthly broadband costs.

It focused on remote and hybrid working following the Covid-19 pandemic, with broadband at the forefront of people’s minds when choosing where to live and work.
Dublin sits firmly at the top of the list as the least affordable city in Europe, with an average monthly broadband cost of around €53.50.
The second most expensive city is Brussels, with an average monthly broadband cost of €48.83, followed by Amsterdam in third place with an average cost of €44.74.

For those who are working from home in Ireland, you may be eligible for tax relief on expenses like light, heat, telephone and broadband.
If your employer pays you an allowance for these expenses, you can get up to €3.20 per day without paying any tax, PRSI or USC on it.
If your employer pays more than €3.20 per day to cover expenses, you pay tax, PRSI, and USC as normal on the amount above €3.20.
If your employer does not pay you an allowance for your expenses, you can make a claim for tax relief at the end of the year. You will get money back from the taxes you paid.
From January 2022, you can claim remote working relief for 30% of the cost of heating, electricity and broadband for days spent working from home.
