Dublin named 7th best city in Europe for nightlife but how accurate is that?

Dublin has been named among the top ten cities in Europe that have the best nightlife.

Taking the number seven spot on the list, Dublin has 250 bars and clubs listed on Tripadvisor. Meanwhile, the Irish capital also has 19.9 bars and clubs per 100,000 people, according to the latest study by Bounce.

While the study counted the number of pubs and clubs per person, it doesn't specify how many pubs there are per person compared to clubs. According to a recent Post-Pandemic Report by District Magazine, there were only 19 nightclubs in Dublin in 2021 compared to 41 ten years ago. While our pub culture remains strong, our club culture has suffered significant blows.

The results of the study also reveal which cities have the cheapest average price for a pint of beer. Dublin was not mentioned near the top of that list. In the fair city, the average price of a pint is a rather staggering €5.94, according to Bounce.

The study looked at a variety of factors to find the very best European holiday destinations in 2022. Bounce looked at 50 major European city break destinations and analysed a number of factors to create the list of overall best destination as well as the cities with the best nightlife, most affordable public transport and average hotel prices, among many others.

While Dublin ranked number seven on the list for best nightlife in Europe, it only came in at number 43 on the list of most affordable European city breaks.

Meanwhile, it ranked number 14 on the overall list of best European city break destinations.

Taking the top spot for best nightlife is Prague in Czech Republic. According to the study, the city has 47.9 bars and clubs per 100,000 people.

Following Prague on the list is Edinburgh, Seville, Palma de Mallorca, Amsterdam, Krakow, Dublin, Venice, Tallinn and Zagreb.

Topping the list of most affordable European city breaks is Istanbul in Turkey, with an average hotel stay costing around €110 per night and the average cost of a pint coming in at around €2.34.

Claiming the number one spot as the best European city break destination is Palma de Mallorca in Spain. This list brought into consideration a wide range of factors including the amount of nature and parks, the number of restaurants in the city, the number of things to do, the average temperatures and the average amount of rainfall in the destination.

Following the Spanish city to make up the rest of the top ten is Seville, Valencia, Prague, Venice, Florence, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Krakow and Tallinn.
