A Dublin mum is pleading for help as her family has been left without electricity or running water in their apartment for 18 days.
Melissa Redmond lives at temporary accommodation in Dublin city centre with her four children who range in age from 20 years of age to three. For the past 18 days, the family have had no lights, heating or running water.
Speaking to Dublin Live, Melissa claimed that she has been told by Dublin City Council that the lack of electricity is due to their landlord allegedly not paying the latest electricity bill. She said: "It's been extremely hard. It was the landlord who moved abroad he never paid the electricity bill and moved abroad, but the council paid the landlord and I think it must be going on six to seven months that you have to pay.

"Then the other day the council told me that the landlord did pay and that they're waiting for the electricity company to set me up. I'm living on candles, it's not normal with four kids and it's costing me a fortune," she said.
Melissa said that over the last 18 days she has spent nearly €550 on takeaway food to feed her children because she has nowhere to cook. She said: "I can't shower my kids and myself at this stage, it's no joke. It's beyond belief, at the night time I'm paying for candles at night €4 a day from Lidl for the toilet and bedroom."
"It's so so frustrating and I feel I'm not getting anywhere," she added. Dublin Live has contacted Dublin City Council for comment.
