Dublin jobs: Go-Ahead Ireland recruiting 180 staff with bus drivers salaries of up to €40,000

Go-Ahead Ireland are hiring 180 staff to fill a variety of vacancies.

The bus company operates 25 Outer Dublin Metropolitan Area routes and 5 Dublin Commuter routes, as well as the C-Spine bus network that launched last November.

And they are recruiting bus drivers, engineers, cleaners and mechanics ahead of the launch.

Go-Ahead said the new roles are being created "to meet the requirements of the implementation of the new BusConnects network redesign in Dublin".

The third phase of BusConnects was due to launch in January but has been delayed until the end of Q2 this year due to driver shortages.

A National Transport Authority spokesman told Dublin Live that driver shortages was worsened by a Covid-19 related reduction of capacity in Dublin Bus' driving school.

They said the situation is now easing as Dublin Bus have "been recruiting and training drivers in recent weeks".

The spokesman said that the NTA is "confident of implementing Phases 3, 4 and 5 this year, starting with Phase 3 which is likely to be rolled out late in Q2."

Phase 3 of Bus Connects will serve northside communities and will see the 17A partly replaced by two new orbitals, the N4 and N6.

The job description for bus drivers says that salaries are up to €40,000 post-training.

Other benefits include overtime opportunities with enhanced rates of pay, free travel on all Go-Ahead's services and an On site gym at Ballymount depot.

The list of roles can be found here.

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan welcomed the expansion, saying: "Public Transport is one of the main tools we have to tackle climate change as well as alleviate congestion on our roads, so I welcome the announcement of these new roles today.

"Our public transport providers, including Go-Ahead have consistently worked throughout the pandemic to provide bus services to our communities. A lot of people over the last two years might feel that they want or need a change in their job or career, and public transport is a great option.”
