Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are looking to recruit the next generation of heavy mechanics after announcing a recruitment programme for apprentices.
The program is open to both male and female applicants where the chosen few will receive the highest training and "acquire, amongst many other skills, the ability to maintain the various systems associated with modern public service vehicles."
The apprenticeship will take place over seven phases, three off the job and four on-the-job.

According to the job spec, on-the-job training takes place with Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann during Phases 1, 3, 5 and 7.
Off-the-job training is designated by SOLAS as follows:
Phase 2
SOLAS Education and Training Board (ETB) Training Centre in Dublin, Cork or Waterford
Phase 4
Department of Education and Skills – Athlone or Dublin IT
Phase 6
Department of Education and Skills – Athlone or Dublin IT
The rate of pay increases year on year.
Year 1: €207.83, Year 2: €311.75, Year 3: €450.30 and Year 4: €554.22.

The closing date for applications is Thursday, March 31.
Placements will start in September 2022 and applicants must be 16 on or before September 1, 2022.
