Since the opening of its first Dublin store in the city in 1999, Aldi has invested almost €187million in the capital over the last number of years.

As the cost of living crisis also continues, back in February Aldi increased its hourly pay rates for store colleagues, maintaining its position as Ireland’s best paying supermarket. Aldi now pays all store assistants up to €16.00 an hour, with a market leading entry rate of €13.85 an hour.

Donald Mackay, Regional Managing Director of Aldi welcomed the new recruitment drive. He said: "Aldi's focus remains firmly on providing great value for our customers, people and the communities in which we operate.

"Across our 156 stores, and 25 in Dublin, we are delivering for customers at a time when household expenses and value have never been more important."

He described how Aldi has a "dedicated and talented team" of 4,650 people across its stores and warehouses. "We are always looking for talented, hardworking and committed people to join the Aldi family, as we continue to grow and develop the business in Ireland, and we look forward to welcoming new colleagues to the team.”
