Dublin firefighters help deliver baby boy who was in a 'big hurry'

Firefighters from Dublin Fire Brigade helped deliver a beautiful baby boy who was in a "big hurry" last night.

A number of DFB personnel from Phibsborough were on hand to help welcome baby Lucca into the world a little quicker than originally planned. Lucca and his mam were later brought to hospital where they are both doing fine.

The DFB put up a gorgeous photo of the new arrival on their social media channels last night in Rachael's arms. They wrote: "Firefighters from Phibsborough fire station responded to a baby boy that was in a big hurry last night. Sub Officer Rachael with Advanced Paramedic Darren plus F/F's Declan and Mark assisted Mum with the delivery.

"Paramedics Colin and Conor working on one of our emergency ambulances took Mum and new arrival Lucca to hospital. All are doing well."

The replies on Twitter were full of praise for the firefighters. One said: "Wonderful people at Dublin Fire Brigade, well done.'

Another commented: "Well done Rachel and Darren! And Mammy too of course! I'm sure she was delighted to be in your calm and caring hands. Welcome to the world baby Lucca." And a third commented: "Well done everyone, gorgeous little fella."

And a fourth recognised Rachael as her swimming coach, saying: "My swimming coach, and an amazing person!" Rachael is an accomplished swimmer in her own right, holding the record for the fastest Irish person to swim the English Channel.
