Dublin Fire Brigade attended to an unusual fire last night following reports of a blaze in Mulhuddart.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, which broke out in a residential area. The fire began at the base of a telephone pole and its cause was attributed to waste.
Dublin Fire Brigade wrote on Twitter: "Firefighters were alerted to reports of a public lighting pole on fire in Mulhuddart last night. On arrival, they discovered a waste fire at the base of the pole which was quickly extinguished."

Dublin Fire Brigade previously issued a warning to the public on the dangers of waste-related fires. Households were urged to dispose of waste responsibly after a series of fires broke out in Dublin in the run up to Halloween.

The fire service estimated that it can take grass up to 18 months to recover from this particular type of blaze.
