Dublin Fire Brigade highlight danger of 'drunk cooking' as danger narrowly avoided after oven disaster

Dublin Fire Brigade have warned people of the dangers of 'drunk cooking' - but were surprised about one incident involving a takeaway and an oven.

Usually, the best way to end a night after a feed of pints and cocktails is for people to head to their nearest takeaway to find the greasiest possible meal to help soak up some of the alcohol in their systems.

It's also a handy way to avoid having to rustle something up yourself while you're absolutely gazeboed at four in the morning.

But one person decided to try and do both recently, leading to the piece of advice from Dublin Fire Brigade.

DFB tweeted: "We often recommend getting a take away to avoid late night #DrunkCooking fires."

"But remember, fast food boxes and ovens don't mix"

Attached to the tweet was an incinerated pizza box - which are usually made of cardboard.

Studies in the past have shown more than 70% of drinking occasions in Ireland happen at home.
