Tributes have been paid to a well-known firefighter following his retirement after over three decades of service.
Dublin Fire Brigade has bid a heartwarming farewell to Frank McDonald who worked for the emergency service for 36 years. During the course of his career, Frank rose the ranks before becoming a supervisor in the Eastern Region Communications Centre located at Tara Street.
A tribute from DFB read: "After 36 years of service we have said goodbye to Firefighter/Paramedic Frank McDonald. Assigned to B Watch Frank worked in some of our busiest stations such as Dolphins Barn and Tallaght during his formative years in the brigade.

"He then became a supervisor in the Eastern Region Communications Centre located at Tara Street fire station where 999 calls are processed and first responders are dispatched to incidents. Tara Street was where his final parade was held along with friends, family and colleagues from across the job. Thanks 'Old bean' for everything.
A number of well-wishers took to the comments to wish Frank a happy retirement. One person said: "Absolute feckin legend. Tóg go bog é Frankie, old bean!"
Another person added: "Congratulations on your retirement, Frank. Enjoy the next chapter. Looking great pal." A third person added: "Congratulations. Welcome to the World of the Gainfully Unemployed!"
