Dublin Fire Brigade is looking for unwanted cars to use in crash training

Dublin Fire Brigade is asking for members of the public to donate unwanted vehicles for staff training.

The end-of-life vehicles will be used to assist in maintaining the brigade's highest standards of road traffic collision tuition for its firefighters and paramedics.

It is an excellent alternative to scrapping your old banger and, car design is constantly changing with new technologies being introduced by manufacturers.

The donations would provide great opportunities for firefighters and officers to maintain their skills of safely and efficiently extricating casualties from crashed vehicles.

In an initiative run jointly with Dublin City Council, the brigade will collect any donated old vehicles free of charge in the Dublin area, before they are then used to train both new recruits and existing operational staff, while owners will receive an end-of-life certificate.

To donate your vehicle, telephone 01 222 4199, or email dfbtrainingcentre@dublincity.ie

You can also use the online self service portal where collection can be arranged.

Many people have already given their support to the scheme.

One - Cora O'Farrell - commented on Twitter: "Farewell to a treasured family car. Gone to a better place in the hands of ⁦@DubFireBrigade. Thank you for your service ⁦⁦@DubCityCouncil."
