A man has been killed and another injured during a night of horror in Dublin.
The victim, who is yet to be identified, was shot several times during the fatal incident in Ronanstown, in the Irish capital, at about 10pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after being left for dead on the driveway of a house.
His body was removed by private ambulance on Tuesday morning.
There were emotional scenes as distressed relatives gathered at the cordon as the victim's remains were taken away.
A major forensic investigation by members of the Garda Technical Bureau continued at the scene through the morning.
Several vehicles were covered by forensic tents to facilitate the Garda examination.
A Garda spokesperson told local media last night: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal shooting incident which occurred at around 10pm this evening, Monday, 5th December 2022, in the Ronanstown area of Dublin 22.
"A male received gunshot wounds and was later pronounced deceased at the scene."
The fatal incident in Ronanstown was the second shooting in the city on Monday.
Earlier, a man was taken to hospital after being shot in Finglas, in the north of the city, at about 9pm.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, gardai said.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in west Dublin last night, a close associate of Irish mafia boss "Mr Flashy" was shot, Dublin Live reports.
Sources confirmed the young man, who is closely connected to the mobster known as "Mr Flashy", was shot in the hand outside a house in Finglas, west Dublin last night.
The young criminal, who is well known to gardai, suffered a gunshot wound to his hand - and was treated at the scene. His injuries were understood to not be life threatening in nature.
A vehicle was subsequently discovered on fire nearby at Berryfield in Finglas.
This is the second time this year that the mobster escaped with his life - having previously been caught up in an attempt on 'Mr Flashy' - when a taxi they were travelling in was shot up.
Mr Flashy has been fighting a war on two fronts - with associates of slain mobster James Whelan - and associates of Shane Fowler all gunning for him and his gang.
Whelan, 29, was gunned down in April after he petrol bombed a property connected to his enemy in the area early in the morning of April 3.
Whelan carried out that attack in revenge for a house linked to an associate of his being shot up hours earlier.
Sources say Whelan was seen by Flashy’s men when he carried out the petrol bomb attack and at least one of them chased him.
