Revenue seized cigarettes and tobacco worth over €155,000 along with €68,000 cash in Dublin yesterday.
Two residential premises in the Dublin 7 area were searched under warrant. Revenue officers, with the assistance of detector dog Bill and supported by An Garda Siochana, seized approximately 141kgs of tobacco, over 74,000 cigarettes, and cash as part of an intelligence led operation.
A man in his 50s was questioned and investigations are ongoing. The cigarettes and tobacco seized, of various brands, had a retail value of more than €155,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €121,000.

Revenue officers were granted a three-month cash detention order in respect of the cash seized by Judge Brian Smyth at the Criminal Courts of Justice earlier today.
These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply of illegal tobacco products.
