Over €3 million worth of much-needed upgrades to lifts at twelve Dublin DART and train stations are set to be pumped in by Iarnroid Eireann this winter.
But the refurbish job means passengers with reduced mobility may have to move along the line to a nearby stop as some works will take over two months to fully finish.
Works at some stops have already began, with Malahide's renovations beginning four weeks ago with a planned end date of October 2.
Iarnroid Eireann say that while there "may be some disruptions now, but this work will provide extra reliable station access for everyone in the future".
Dublin Live have previously revealed how some of the city's busiest DART stations had their lifts break down over 40 times in just over a year.
But despite some breakdown black spots like Tara Street and Skerries being included in the list of 12 stations, Grand Canal Dock - which had the most breakdowns - is left off.
However Irish Rail added that 52 stations nationwide were set for big upgrades in the next three years after this initial round.
