Dublin community rocked by sudden death of kind hearted and 'bubbly' local legend

A close-knit Dublin community was left devastated following the sudden death of a kind-hearted local legend.

Tributes have been paid to the late Sharon Lee who died on Friday after a short illness at St Vincent's University Hospital.

Originally from Stillorgan, Sharon was a well-known and beloved figure in Stepaside.

Friend Paolo Borza told Dublin Live: "I got to know Sharon over the years.

"You’d always see her in her Ryanair outfit. She was very proud to be working for Ryanair. She had a very big following.

"I put up a post on Facebook [when she died] and a lot of customers were coming in and they knew her.

"They were talking about her. There were a lot of people commenting that weren’t related to our page."

Paolo, who runs Borza Takeaway in the village, said "community-driven" Sharon would always be around to help people.

He said: "I always remember her coming in for a bag of chips. She’d always be chatting and always offering a hand.

"I opened another business in Stepaside and she was always offering her help. She was very community-driven."

Paolo said Sharon had battled cancer a few years ago but came out the other end.

He added: "She got cancer again and she actually got the all-clear and then she died three days later.

"Her husband passed away very young. She has a son and she always adored him."

Sharon will be laid to rest on Tuesday with the funeral taking place at the Church of St. Thérèse, Mount Merrion at 11 am.

A notice on RIP.ie reads: "LEE Sharon Julia (Stepaside, Dublin 18 and formerly of Ryanair) September 17, 2021. Suddenly at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Elm Park, after a short illness very bravely fought.
