A Dublin business owner has issued a heartfelt plea for support after their beloved drive-in-movie business was "trashed" by vandals recently.
The owner of Retro Drive-in Movies, Ryan O'Neill, said the incident happened two weeks ago on February 27 in Leopardstown. It is understood that the vandals broke into a storage facility housing a number of trailers and shop units.
The break-in has caused up thousands of euro worth of damage, with the thieves also stealing stock, equipment and fittings belonging to the local business. In a post on Instagram, Mr O'Neill confirmed that they are back screening movies at Leopardstown Racecourse this weekend, with an appeal for the public to help a "local business survive a tough time."

In the post on Instagram yesterday, Retro Drive-in-Movies said: "We need your support this weekend....As many of you will already know, we were broken into 2 weeks ago with serious damage to equipment and stock, this has made us even more determined and we are back on our feet.
"If you are a Retro Regular, Please support us this weekend by checking out a movie at Leopardstown Racecourse, we will guarantee a great day or night out for all the family. If you've never been to a Drive-in Movie, this weekend is the perfect time to check us out, you will get a great family event while helping a local business survive a tough time."
Two weeks ago, Retro Drive-in-Movies confirmed that vandals broke in and stole and "thrashed €1000s worth of stock, fittings and equipment."
But now the business is ready to welcome back its loyal customers this weekend, showing five family favourites on Saturday 18 March and Sunday 19 March; Back To The Future, The Goonies, The Greatest Showman, The Van, and Mamma Mia. Tickets can be bought online at www.RetroDrivein.ie
Gardai confirmed to Dublin Live that they have launched an investigation into the incident. A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a theft that occurred at a commercial premises in the Cherrywood area, Co. Dublin on Monday afternoon 27 February 2023.
"A number of items were taken from a vehicle in the incident. Enquiries are ongoing."
