Dublin barber generously donates all haircuts to 'Climb with Charlie' fund

A Dublin barber is generously donating all of today's earnings to the 'Climb with Charlie' fund.

The Grafton Barber said that the minimum donation today would be the price of a customer's haircut.

People are also welcome to donate more to the worthy cause.

The chain's shops across Dublin were eager to get behind today's initiative, with many taken to social media to promote the event.

Climb with Charlie posted: "Today, Sunday April 3, #TheGraftonBarber will be doing HAIRCUTS FOR CHARLIE. Minimum Donation of the price of your cut applies and all proceeds to go to Charlie's Charities."

Retired RTE broadcaster Charlie Bird said he was "truly humbled" by the support he has received after he and his fellow climbers reached the summit of Croagh Patrick yesterday.

As part of a fundraiser for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta, Charlie was joined by hundreds of hikers.

Former President Mary McAleese, country singer Daniel O'Donnell, Wexford hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald, architect Dermot Bannon and RTÉ broadcaster Ryan Tubridy joined their friend on his climb.

Ryan Tubridy took to Instagram to applaud 'Ireland at its best'.

He said: "That was not an easy climb but thank you Charlie.

"We got to the top of Croagh Patrick. We're thinking of our friends in Ukraine. We're thinking about the great Irish people and of course Charlie Bird, Vicky Phelan.

"This is what it's all about. Thanks to everybody I've met coming up the mountain today.

"Thanks to everybody who has been donating.

"It's crossed the one million euro threshold for Pieta and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

"This is Ireland at its best."
