Dublin Airport passengers hit out at 'shambolic' and 'excessive' queues at security as management issues time-saving tips

Dublin Airport passengers have hit out at 'shambolic' and 'excessive' queues at security.

A big issue seemingly arose between 4pm and 6pm on Monday, and some of those affected took to Twitter to express their frustration.

There were reports of 30 minute wait times and one passenger said a "bunch of lanes" were not open at security.

The passenger said on Twitter: "Getting near the top of a 30 minute @DublinAirport security queue and seeing a bunch of lanes not open."

Another passenger claimed they missed their flight due to lengthy queues.

They wrote: "Missed my flight due to the excessive queues at security. More than half the x-ray machines left unused. Completely avoidable."

A third person tweeted to Dublin Airport's account, saying: "Security is shambolic. Sort it out."

A daa spokesman said they are advising passengers of short-haul flights to arrive at the airport at least two hours before boarding.

He said: "With passenger numbers increasing and a busy school mid-term break ahead, we continue to advise passengers travelling on short-haul flights to allow a minimum of two hours before the boarding of their flight and three hours for long-haul flights and to allow at least an extra 30 minutes if using a long term car park."
