Dublin Airport: Over 100 flights delayed departing and landing as Met Eireann issue orange warning

Over 100 flights departing from and arriving at Dublin Airport today have been hit with delays as a status orange thunderstorm warning causes major disruption throughout the capital.

A status yellow weather warning has been in place in since 4am this morning but at lunchtime Met Eireann issued an orange thunderstorm warning for Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Louth and Wicklow that is valid until 5pm.

Weather conditions have had a major effect on flights at Dublin Airport today. At the time of writing, 71 flights due to land at Dublin from 1:30pm onwards are delayed or were delayed on arrival. From 2:30pm onwards, 31 flights are/were delayed departing the airport.

The Ryanair FR7366 flight from Vienna to Dublin was diverted this afternoon. A Ryanair spokeswoman said: "This flight from Vienna to Dublin (19 Oct) diverted to Shannon due to thunderstorms in Dublin. Passengers remained on board and the flight departed following a short delay of 1 hour."

Aer Lingus has cancelled two flights to Dublin this evening. The EI507 from Bordeaux is cancelled, as well as the EI243 from London Gatwick.
