Dublin Airport Revenue officers have seized nearly €500,000 worth of cannabis hidden in car parts and healthcare boxes this morning.
Officials uncovered 22.5kg of herbal cannabis, with a street value of over €460,000, hidden in parcels marked ‘car parts and healthcare products’ during routing inspections of air cargo consignments from Spain.
The drugs were destined for addresses in Counties Wexford, Waterford and Kilkenny.
The full Revenue statement reads: "Today (26 January 2023), as a result of routine operations, Revenue officers seized 22.5 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €460,000, at Dublin Airport.
"The illegal drugs were discovered concealed in parcels described as ‘Car Parts and Healthcare Products’, that had arrived in air cargo consignments from Spain and were destined for addresses in Counties Wexford, Waterford and Kilkenny.
"Investigations are ongoing. This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number in 1800 295 295."
