Over 90,000 passengers are expected to pass through Dublin Airport each day this weekend, with external holding areas put in place to ease queues now fully open.
It follows what Dublin Airport Authority described as “a smooth week” at the capital’s airport.
The daa are expecting it to, once again, be a busy weekend of passengers catching flights from the airport, but hopes to have their new pre-terminal areas fully opened to ease pressure .

Located within the short-term car parks, these areas will allow staff to “hold back larger volumes of passengers who arrive too early for flights”.
A spokesperson from daa said that the trial of these areas was successful over the past week.
Over 90,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport each day this weekend in what is said to be “another busy” few days.
The spokesperson said: “It's been a smooth week at Dublin Airport overall, with passengers getting through security screening in good time over the past seven days, aided by the various measures we have put in place in terms of deploying more staff, opening more security lanes at peak times and implementing a better queue management system inside and outside the terminals.
“The changes we've made at Terminal 1 to filter passengers based on whether they have a bag to check-in or can go direct to security have worked well and will remain in place for the coming weeks.”
Those due to fly out of Dublin Airport this weekend are still advised to arrive two and a half hours before short-haul flights and three and half hours before a long-haul flight.
“Those checking a bag are advised to continue to allow for up to an additional hour if they can and are encouraged to check bag-drop and check-in opening times with their airline,” the spokesperson said.
