Dublin jobs: Dublin Airport hiring security officers with starting rate revealed

Dublin Airport are recruiting for their Airport Search Unit (ASU) with a "flexible contract" on offer.

Successful candidates will be guaranteed 20 working hours per week but "must be available to work 40".

The starting hourly rate is €14.14 per hour.

The job description says the responsibilities of ASU officers include "to ensure the secure, and efficient movement of passengers through the security process at Dublin Airport in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements and in a manner that enhances the customer’s experience."

It continues: "This is a 24/7 shift-based roster, primarily based indoors in the airport but some opportunities may become available over time, to work outdoors at the vehicle checkpoints."

Dublin Airport has said "queues for security are likely to be experienced at peak hours over the days and weeks ahead as we continue to bring trained staff on board."

Passengers slammed "outrageous" queues in the airport on Twitter on Sunday with some saying they waited three hours to get through security.

One wrote: "Arrived at the airport at 4am this morning for a flight at 6:25am missed the flight because we couldn’t even get into the security queue until 6am had to book another flight, just getting home now”

Another said: “Absolutely chaotic scenes - It took us nearly 3 hours to get through security this morning. Felt so so sorry for all the parents with young children."

A third person said they "stood in line for security for longer than the duration of my actual flight today."

A fourth person called security "a shambles" and said there were "tourists saying they will never come back".

Ryanair has advised Dublin Airport passengers arrive at least three and a half hours before their departure time due to staff shortages.

They said: "Due to DAA staff shortages at Dublin Airport, passengers should arrive at least 3.5 hours before their scheduled departure time.

"Check-in Desks, Kiosks and Baggage Drop will be open 3.5 hours before departure.

"We apologise to our customers for these unfortunate security delays, which are entirely out of our control."
