Dubai Trip, Saint-Maximin critics and Almiron's future - The Everything is Black and White Podcast

Newcastle United are back on Tyneside preparing for a trip to Tottenham, hoping to get back to winning ways after losing their last two Premier League games. The club took the squad to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp and will be hoping for a similar upturn in results to what followed from their trip to Saudi Arabia back in January.

Despite the break in games, there’s been plenty to cover when it comes to Newcastle United and we discussed the main talking points on the latest episode of The Everything is Black and White Podcast. Host Andrew Musgrove is joined by Chronicle Live’s new Newcastle United editor Aaron Stokes.

The pair discuss the trip to Dubai, plus have a look at the criticism of Allan Saint-Maximin, the future of Dwight Gayle and Miguel Almiron, and talk about Nick De Marco’s interview with our paper. Aaron also shares with us an insight into his background and his move to the Chronicle.

Speaking about the impact of the Dubai trip, Aaron said: “It was the perfect time for them to get away. After the last break they had in February they came back and made it to nine unbeaten.

“The squad looked rejuvenated - they looked a totally different team in what was a crucial moment in the season. There will be hopes the same happens again.

“Hearing what the players and Eddie Howe have said about the trip, it sounds like it’s been positive. If it can have the same result as the last one, it’ll be a massive benefit.”
