'Dubai, Dubai': Satirical Israeli song causes stir in Arab world

MIDDLE EAST MATTERS © FRANCE 24

We speak to Noam Shuster Eliassi, an Israeli comedian whose latest performance has gone viral in the Arab world. The satirical song "Dubai, Dubai" criticises the recent deal to normalise ties between Israel and the UAE and has been watched, rewatched and tweeted thousands of times. She tells us why she feels the song sends an important message.

Meanwhile, Israel's president has warned that the country's democracy and key institutions are at stake. The message came after a newspaper published reports claiming that police have illegally used Pegasus malware to spy on dozens of ministers, activists or business leaders.

Finally, we report on one of the poorest neighbourhoods of the Lebanese city of Tripoli. With a persistent economic crisis leaving many out of work, dozens of young men of Sunni origin have chosen to leave the country to join the ranks of the Islamic State group elsewhere.
