Dua Lipa criticised for 'ridiculous reason' she 'snubbed' Elton John's Glastonbury set

Dua Lipa has been slammed for reportedly 'snubbing' Elton John during his iconic Glastonbury performance that will go down in history.

There was a lot of speculation around who would be the Rocket Man star's special guest, and many thought the New Rules singer would appear alongside him.

The 76-year-old took to the stage in front of thousands of screaming fans while fireworks lit up the sky as he took a seat on his piano on Sunday night for the "special and emotional" show which comes as his final UK gig before he retires from touring.

Dua Lipa, 27, was tipped to perform alongside Elton according to reports in the Mirror however he was left to belt out their tune Cold Heart which the pair duetted in 2021 alone on stage as she was allegedly out for dinner.

The pop singer was blasted by fans after she took to social media sharing snaps from a family meal at the weekend, as people soon questioned why she hadn't appeared on stage alongside the Tiny Dancer singer.

One person wrote: "Sorry Dua Lipa but where on earth is more important to be right now than the headlining performance of Glastonbury with Elton John?"

Elton John didn't hang around after his Glastonbury set, according to reports (PA)

"No Dua Lipa either… beyond belief #Glastonbury," quipped another whilst someone else added: "I'm dying to know what Dua Lipa chose to do rather than perform with Elton John on his final UK performance."

A fourth quipped: "Bit unfortunate for Elton John that Dua Lipa chose #Glastonbury for the first night she stayed at home in three years."

While a fifth vented: "Listen Dua Lipa I love you but there is 0 family event or commitment more important than getting a boogie on with Elton at Glastonbury."

Dua Lipa and Elton John released the chart-topping hit Cold Heart back in August 2021 and performed the song together at the end of Elton's US final tour date in Los Angeles the following year.

Fans had been convinced the 27-year-old pop singer would make an appearance after Elton's husband David Furnish teased on social media about the singer's plans to bring major stars on stage with him at Glastonbury.

Many thought the special guest could be Eminem or Britney but it was The Killers' Brandon Flowers who joined Elton on stage.
