Dua Lipa and Paul Mescal party 'til dawn: all the gossip from Glastonbury

Londoner’s Diary

Despite being the most densely populated place on earth for a weekend, Glastonbury is where celebs go to dance like nobody's watching. Dua Lipa certainly made the most of her time there – after headlining the festival on Friday night, she made her way to NYC Downlow, the iconic gay club that looks like a meatpacking warehouse full of profusely sweating bodies. Lipa sailed past the enormous queue with boyfriend Callum Turner and her entourage. We hear that the singer was partying until the early hours and wound up at the Stone Circle, where the all night crew go to watch the sun rise.

Also at NYC Downlow in the wee hours on Friday were Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, who did a Q&A about their film All of Us Strangers at the festival’s cinema earlier in the evening. Mescal stayed all weekend and was spotted bopping in Shangri-La the next night, sunglasses on, with Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar Jones. The actress shared an Instagram of herself stocking up on White Claw hard seltzers which were sold at the festival’s bars for a whopping £7.50 a can. We made use of Glastonbury’s lax alcohol policy and brought in multipacks from Ellie Goulding’s drinks brand, Served, and Moth’s nifty mini cocktail cans.

While lots of celebs hole up in the hospitality bar, Tilda Swinton kept her title as the people’s princess of Glastonbury. We saw her gliding around among hoi polloi at Sampha in a double brown tracksuit and her artist boyfriend in tow. Meanwhile Cara Delevingne enjoyed plentiful backstage access, watching Charli XCX, Avril Lavigne and The Last Dinner Party in the wings of the stage. She spent the weekend arm-in-arm with Anya Taylor-Joy.

A group who claimed to be Stormzy’s pals caused a stir at Soho House’s new VIP bar, The Hideout, after rocking up and demanding free drinks. “We couldn’t exactly say no,” the bar staff told us. Princess Beatrice also made good use of the bar. She was staying in the super exclusive Winnebago area, and apparently being “a real nightmare,” according to one of her neighbours.
