New Delhi: The Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM) and BA English (Hons) have emerged as the most sought-after programs at Delhi University, as over 2.4 lakh applicants have registered for undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2024-25.

Other BA courses including History (Hons), Political Sciences (Hons), and Psychology (Hons) are also the top preferred courses among students.

As of 4:30 PM, a total of 2,45,273 applicants had completed the first phase of CSAS, said DU Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi.

Out of these, 180,109 candidates have actively participated in the next phase (II) by submitting their preferences for courses and colleges.

This has resulted in a staggering 15,956,834 preferences recorded so far, Gandhi informed.

"Among the various undergraduate programs on offer, Commerce remains the top choice for applicants. The BCom and BCom (Hons.) programs are the most sought-after, closely followed by popular humanities courses like BA (Hons.) English, BA (Hons.) Political Science, BA (Hons.) History**, BA (Hons.) Psychology, and BA (Hons.) Economics," Gandhi said.

The CSAS Phase II process will close at 11:59 PM today. During Phase 2, candidates are required to match the subjects they studied in Class 12 with those they appeared for in CUET UG 2024 and file their subject and college preferences.

Delhi University is offering admission to over 71,000 seats across more than 65 colleges through the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG).

Delhi University initiated Phase 2 of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for undergraduate admissions last Friday, following the release of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) - UG results by the National Testing Agency.

The university has also published the allocation-cum-admission schedule for the 2024-25 academic session. Upon the completion of Phases 1 and 2 of the CSAS, a simulated rank list will be published on August 11.

Candidates will have the opportunity to revise their preferences from 5 pm on August 11 until 11.59 pm on August 12.

The first merit list for DU UG admissions is set to be released on August 16 at 5 pm. Candidates can accept their seats from 5 pm on August 16 to 4.59 pm on August 18.

Subsequently, colleges will verify and approve the online applications of the candidates. (ANI)
