GURUGRAM: A man who helped the driver of the dumper, which mowed down DSP Surender Singh Bishnoi on Tuesday, escape to Rajasthan was arrested on Friday.
Billa, a resident of Khandwa village in Alwar, was picked up from Biwipur area of Nuh. He was remanded in two days’ police custody. Police said Billa not only helped the dumper driver, Mittar, to escape to Alwar, but also provided him shelter in his house. On Tuesday, Mittar ran his dumper over DSP Singh when the police officer chased the vehicle carrying illegally mined stones from the Aravalis and asked the driver to stop.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mittar escaped to his sister’s house in Sare Kalan village after the DSP was killed and met Billa there. Fearing arrest, Mittar fled to Alwar along with Billa on his bike. There, the dumper driver put up with Billa.
Mittar, arrested from Alwar two day ago, spilled the beans on Billa, who is the third person to have been arrested in the case. Ikkar, Mittar’s helper, was the first to have been nabbed.
Mittar is said to have told interrogators that apart from the driver and helper, there were seven more men in the truck.
“All three who have been arrested till now are being questioned so that we get details about the other accused. Raids are being conducted at various locations,” said Varun Singla, the SP (Nuh).
