Drunk thug bit off girlfriend's ear and sank teeth into her face in front of horrified tourists

A thug bit off his girlfriend's ear in front of horrified tourists outside a bar in Blackpool after a day drinking in the seaside resort.

Aiden Dickinson, 21, has been jailed for five years after a series of attacks on the woman including a separate incident in which he set upon her whilst pregnant and sunk his teeth into her.

Preston Crown Court heard that on June 24 last year, the couple were staying in a hotel room after a day of heavy drinking. A row broke out and Dickinson began punching furniture.

He smashed a mirror and grabbed his partner around the throat, pushing her against a wall and biting her cheek. As she pleaded with him to stop, Dickinson bit harder before pushing her onto the floor and dragging her to a bed where he continued punching her face and arms, Lancs Live reports.

"You bit her legs in various places, you were abusive to her and you tried to stop her fleeing the hotel and down the road", Recorder Julian Shaw, sentencing, said.

In March 2022, Dickinson attacked the woman again, knowing she was pregnant and unwell. A row broke out but as his partner tried to call for help, Dickinson pulled her onto the bed and slapped her face.

"Fortunately somebody called the police, otherwise it is difficult to know how or what would have compelled you to stop this assault on her again", the judge said. Dickinson was arrested and damaged the police cell, but less than three weeks later he turned on his partner again, after drinking heavily.

The couple were outside The Flying Handbag in Dickson Road, Blackpool, when horrified members of the public saw the attacker bite the woman's fingers and push her to the floor.

"You bit her face and bit off the lower part of her ear", Recorder Shaw said. "Horrified members of the public saw you and she covered in blood and heard her screaming." The police were called but as a police officer tried to restrain him, Dickinson threw his head back and injured the officer.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said she now has significant scarring to her face and ear as a result of Dickinson's violence. "I feel ugly and have to live with this for the rest of my life as a constant reminder of him. I don't know how I can get over it", she said.

"I am struggling to get over how he treated me during our relationship and how it all came to an end when he assaulted me. I still feel under his control and I think about him and what he did to me every day."

Dickinson was sentenced for section 18 wounding; assault by beating of an emergency worker; and two counts of section 47 assault. Recorder Shaw handed him a seven year jail term, telling him: "The level of violence you inflicted on someone you professed to love is truly horrific.

"It is frightening and it shows to me a complete inability to control your behaviour, disinhibited as it was through grotesque amounts of alcohol." The judge acknowledged difficulties in Dickenson's childhood but said: "You have to take personal responsibility for your own actions and the devastating effect they had on your partner."
