Drunk Falkirk yob who peed on mum's doorstep and hit window with plant pot dodges jail

A man who urinated on his mother's doorstep and smashed a plant pot off her door was spared jail but branded "disgusting" by a sheriff today.

Declan Hogg, 25, appeared for sentence at Falkirk Sheriff Court after turning up under the influence of alcohol at his mum's house in Slamannan, near Falkirk, and wasn't allowed in.

He began swearing at the front door and shouting "you're a fat w****" and "I'm going to p*** against your door" during the ordeal on September 26, 2020.

Prosecutor Catherine Fraser told an earlier hearing in the case: "He smashed a plant pot against the window in the door, causing damage to both, and then in a display of poor lavatorial etiquette he did in fact urinate against the door."

He then went round to the back of the house and tried to get in through the back door, shouting and picking up a football and throwing it at the kitchen window, upsetting the 10-year-old son of a neighbour who saw what was going on.

Police were called and, hearing sirens, Hogg climbed over his mother's back garden fence in a bid to flee.

Ms Fraser said: "He was eventually arrested, and whilst being transported to the custody suite he stated, 'My maw's saying I peed on the floor, phone my lawyer and make him take swabs off the floor, I've done nothing wrong, my maw said I p***** on the floor."

Hogg, of Falkirk, a time-served joiner, pleaded guilty to statutory breach of the peace.

Hogg's solicitor Simon Hutchison said: "This was outrageous behaviour. He tells me he was very depressed and he was drinking far too much."

After reading background reports, Sheriff Derek Livingston fined Hogg £850.

He told him: "Your behaviour was completely unacceptable. Disgusting, actually."
