Drugs and cash 'destined for HMP Liverpool' seized by police

A 'large quantity' of drugs and cash have been found by Police Community Support Officers.

On Wednesday, January 25, PCSOs from Marsh Lane Neighbourhood Policing Team spotted a large quantity of cash, drugs, mobile phones and tobacco.

The items were discovered in a bag on land off Fernhill Road, Bootle. Police believe the items may have been on their way to HMP Liverpool given " recent drone sightings in the area".

A post on the Sefton Police Facebook page said: "On Wednesday, January 2023, PCSOs from Marsh Lane Neighbourhood Policing team have recovered a large quantity of drugs, as well as mobile phones and tobacco from a bag located on land off Fernhill Road, Bootle. At this time it is believed the items may have been destined for HMP Liverpool given recent drone sightings in the area.

"Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) are crucial to the success of our approach to neighbourhood policing and provide a crucial link between local communities and regular police officers. PCSOs are a visible presence within our neighbourhoods ensuring that there is a constant offer of support whilst helping those in need."
