IT'S still a stunning strip of coast but it might be some time before Merewether Beach is looking back to its spectacular best.
This image captured by a drone at the weekend shows the scale of the erosion caused by the big southerly swells late last week, with the beach stripped of sand to reveal a long stretch of rocks standing as the last line of defence.
While the conditions weren't as big as Friday's swell, the large swell continued over the weekend to continue an erosion event which locals described as the worst they had seen at Merewether since the Sygna Storm of 1974.
