Drone footage captures horrible scale of damage caused to Pontypridd Lido by Storm Dennis

Shocking drone footage has emerged that shows the full extent of the damage caused by Storm Dennis at Pontypridd Lido.

Pontypridd, home to the National Lido of Wales, was one of the areas worst hit by the storm over the weekend.

The main high street was left looking like what can only be described as a river and homes, businesses and cars were left submerged in water.

The bridge leading from the old Marks & Spencer building to Ynysangharad War Memorial Park was pictured looking battered and covered in branches.

Since Storm Dennis made its lasting mark on the town the park, which homes the lido, it has been closed to the public.

Now footage has emerged of it covered in dirty water.

The storm has severely impacted one of the town’s most treasured assets.

Nearby the popular children’s play area looks bruised and battered, and has also been left covered in what resembles the slurry that has poured out of many homes and businesses over the past few days.

The full-extent of the damage has not yet been assessed or confirmed by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council but it’s set to make an announcement in due course.

Ynysangharad War Memorial Park currently remains closed to the public.
