Driving instructor smashes into lamppost while overtaking ambulance

Emergency services were scrambled to a car that had smashed into a lamppost yesterday (Sunday). Police were called by the ambulance service to the crash on Watergate Lane, just off the M61, in Bolton.

Police say the vehicle had tried to overtake an ambulance while driving round a bend before crashing into the lamppost. Pictures from the scene showed debris from the car along the road's pavement with the lamppost taken completely out of the ground.

Pictures shared of the car showed extensive damage to the front where the impact with the lamppost had taken place, with the windscreen badly damaged. No injuries were reported from the collision.
