Drivers heading southbound on the A77 next weekend are being warned of a six-hour closure of the carriageway between Dutch House Roundabout and Sandyford Toll Roundabout.
The southbound carriageway between the two busy roundabouts will close from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Sunday, December 4.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, say they are undertaking “essential tree felling” to remove dangerous trees on the A77 southbound carriageway between the two roundabouts, hence the temporary closure.
The work will be carried out using a complete closure of the southbound carriageway between the roundabouts, and a signed diversion will be in place.
Amey said: “We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.”
The scheme is valued at £14,665 and the contractors say the work will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety of the carriageway and reducing risk to road users.
The signed diversion will be as follows:
*Southbound traffic will leave the A77 at Dutch House Roundabout and will take the third exit on to the A78.
From here, traffic will take the second exit at Monktonhead Roundabout to join the A79. Traffic will then join Ayr Road, turn left on to the B743 Heathfield Road and will continue to Whitletts Roundabout to re-join the A77.
The northbound carriageway will remain open and operate as normal during this period.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
