DRIVERS on the A9 have been left battling snowy conditions amid a yellow weather warning.
A yellow snow and ice warning is in place for most of the north of Scotland, as well as Orkney and Shetland until 10am on January 2.

Pictures have captured a snowplough battling through blizzards on the A9 near Inverness on New Year’s Day.

Outdoor events which had been planned to celebrate Hogmanay in Edinburgh all had to be cancelled.
However, indoor events still went ahead with organisers saying that they believed event was a success.

A separate three-day warning for snow has also been issued for this weekend.
It predominantly covers England although does stretch into parts of southern and central Scotland.
It comes into force at midday on Saturday, January 4 and will last until Monday, January 6.
