A number of drivers were fined over unsafe parking this bank holiday weekend.
Gardai have issued a warning to motorists as thousands flock to the beaches to make the most of the good weather. Officers spotted a huge number of cars being parked in a way that could obstruct emergency vehicles or other road users in Bettystown.
These cars were issued fixed penalty notices as they created an unsafe environment. A garda spokesperson said on the Meath Crime Prevention page on Facebook: "Lots of people are heading to beaches and beauty spots a️s a result of the warm weather so we would like to issue a reminder in relation to parking safely.

"Please park in a responsible manner. Do not park in a manner which will obstruct emergency vehicles or other road users, otherwise you may face being towed/Fixed Charge Penalty Notice issued.
"These cars were not parked safely in Bettystown yesterday so gardai issued a number of fixed penalty notices. Every second counts in an emergency. By blocking access for any of the emergency services you could be putting lives at risk. Think before you park!"
