Drivers face major disruption as road between two Scottish cities closed for 10 weeks

MOTORISTS planning to drive between Perth and Dundee on the A90 will face 10 weeks of disruption due to planned major roadworks.

The almost £1 million repairs to the Glencarse overbridge are set to begin on Thursday, October 10, after it was damaged last year.

Construction firm Amey will carry out the work to restore the bridge’s load-carrying capacity on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The bridge was damaged in March 2023 following a crash which led to one of its lanes being closed for several months while temporary repairs were carried out.

A contraflow will be in operation during the 10 weeks for the safety of those carrying out the repairs and for motorists.

There will also be lane closures on both the northbound and southbound carriageways from 7.30pm on October 10.

The contraflow system will be in place from 7.30pm on October 12 with the A90 southbound off-slip to St Madoes also closed.

A temporary 50mph speed limit will also be in place throughout the roadworks.

The finish date for the £840,000 project has not been confirmed but it is expected to last 10 weeks.

Temporary traffic lights which have been in place on the bridge since it was damaged last year will be removed.
