Driver to appear in court after being stopped at the Airport for serious offence as others warned

Gardai have issued a court date to a driver caught at the Airport in recent days without the correct licence at hand.

Officers believe the person driving the car was operating “for hire or reward” as a taxi without the correct documentation to allow them to do this.

The person was stopped during a joint SPSV Compliance Operation which was being conducted by Dublin Airport Gardaí and the NTA

In a post on Twitter, officers confirmed that: “This car was stopped during a joint SPSV Compliance Operation between Dublin Airport Gardaí & the NTA at Dublin Airport.

“It was found that the was operating for hire or reward without the requisite licences or insurance. Court to follow.”

In Ireland, it is considered unlawful to provide SPSV services without an appropriate licence.

It is therefore a criminal offence to operate without a current SPSV licence and the criminal conviction for this offence attracts a penalty of up to €5,000.
