A man has been ordered to pay out hundreds of pounds after dumping rubbish outside a block of flats.
Mohammed Hassan Ali pulled up on a street in Ashton-under-Lyne before leaving three bags of household waste on the ground and driving off, Tameside Magistrates Court heard.
A witness who saw the events unfold outside Assheton House, on Assheton Close, made a note of Ali's description and his vehicle's registration number. They reported the details to Tameside Council, who prosecuted Ali in court for flytipping this week.

Ali told magistrates on Thursday (December 15) he had made a mistake and he wasn’t thinking straight on the day it took place. He said he had been to a gym nearby and saw that there were bins belonging to the flats at Assheton House, so he decided to leave the bags at the roadside.
Following an investigation by Tameside Council officers, Ali admitted dumping the rubbish during an interview under caution. Ali, of Burlington Street, Ashton, pleaded guilty to the offence of flytipping on March 23 this year.
In court on Thursday, he was ordered to pay a total of £684. That includes a £150 fine and a payment of £500 towards clean-up and prosecution costs, plus a £34 victim surcharge.
Coun Denise Ward, Tameside Council's executive member responsible for environmental services, said: "Flytipping is a serious offence and totally unacceptable. It shows a complete disregard to the local environment and community and we will always take robust action against those who are responsible where we have the evidence.
“This prosecution is part of our ongoing work with the local community to clean up the borough and tackle flytipping and littering as part of the Our Streets campaign and I thank the member of the public who came to us with information of what they had witnessed, so that we could investigate further and take enforcement action.” For details on reporting flytipping in Tameside see the council's website.
