A driver was rushed to hospital after their car crashed into fences.
Emergency services, including Merseyside fire and rescue service, rushed to the junction of Edge Lane and Tanhouse Road, at around 12.05am on Thursday, September 1. They found a VW Polo had been involved in a crash into fences.
The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police closed the road for a number of hours while accident investigation work took place.

A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that emergency services were in Thornton following a serious collision in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 1 September. At around 12.50am, we were called to the junction of Edge Lane and Tanhouse Road to reports of a collision involving a VW Polo and fences.
"The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The road was later reopened. Anyone who witnessed the incident can contact us @MerPolCC with reference 22000649546."
