A guilt-ridden driver has spoken of having 14-years of anguish at not returning the favour of another motorist paying their toll charge on the Seven Bridge. Unfortunately toll booths have been decommissioned on both the Severn Bridge and the Prince of Wales Bridge, so they will never get the chance to pass on the kindness.
The disgruntled motorist wrote in to Twitter account @fesshole, on which users can anonymously post their darkest wrongdoings and secrets. This particular entry found a driver describe themselves driving over the Severn Bridge - only to realise they were not in possession of cash to pay the toll.
They write that they were about to be escorted back across the bridge, until the generous driver behind them paid the toll for them. She touchingly told them to "pay the kindness forward", to which the cashless motorist promised they would.

They then end the tale by confessing that 14 years down the line they are yet to do so, which racks them with guilt. The full confession read: "I drove over the Severn Bridge to find it was a cash only toll. They were about to escort me back across when the lady behind paid for me. She told me to pay the kindness forward and I promised I would. 14 years later I still have not and it eats away at me."
Unfortunately for the self-condemning motorist, that particular favour will never be able to be paid forward, since both the Severn and Prince of Wales bridges have been without toll booths since 2019.
