A driver had a miracle escape after a massive tree felled by storms landed on the bonnet of her car. Fire crews at Crediton Fire Station in Devon posted images of how an enormous tree came within inches of killing the woman.
Photos show how the driver came within inches of the tree landing directly on top of her - which left her hospitalised with non-serious injuries. The crash took place on the A377 near the village of Spencer Combe on Wednesday (April 12).
A severe weather warning from the MET Office was in effect in Devon throughout Wednesday after Storm Noa made landfall. Posting on social media, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Crediton and North Tawton Fire Station, along with a flexi-duty officer, attended a single vehicle road traffic collision today where a vehicle had been struck by a falling tree.
"Crews were able to remove the casualty from the vehicle following a casualty assessment, creating space inside the car by moving the seats back. The casualty was then treated at scene until the arrival of the ambulance crews who took her aboard and in to hospital for a full assessment of injuries, injuries are not suspected to be serious at this stage.
