A man has been taken to hospital after the car he was driving hit a tree while trying to dodge a pickup truck on the A98 last night.
The crash happened between 10pm and midnight on the road between Cullen and Portsoy.
The white Nissan Navara was being driven towards Cullen when a grey or black pick-up type vehicle, which was driving in the opposite direction, veered towards the Nissan.
This caused the Nissan to come off the road and hit a tree.
Police raced to the scene but found no-one in the Nissan upon arrival.
A search of the area ensued and a short time later, the 33-year-old male driver was traced.
He was taken by ambulance to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin.
His condition is not yet known.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone with any information on the incident to come forward.
In the meantime, their enquiries into the smash are ongoing.
Constable David Hall, of Keith Police Station, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or may have seen the vehicle involved prior to the crash to get in touch.
“Anyone with information or dash-cam footage which could assist our investigation should contact police via 101, quoting incident 0037 of 30 March.”
