The age and gender of those injured are not yet known, nor is the extent of their injuries or current condition.
A photograph taken from the scene shows a bride and wedding party huddled nervously on the pavement as they watch the aftermath of the crash unfold.
An ambulance can be seen parked across the road next to at least three cars which appear to be abandoned in the middle of the street. Members of the public also stand on another section of pavement.
A probe has now been launched so officers can piece together exactly what happened. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.35pm on Saturday, 5 November, 2022, officers were called to reports of a three vehicle crash on Cadzow Street, Hamilton.
“The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to University Hospital Wishaw. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.”
