A busy road was closed by police this afternoon after a car slammed into a tree.
The crash occurred on Menlove Avenue, Woolton, close to the junction with Woolton Road, at around 1.25pm.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service sent two fire engines and the search and rescue team, which arrived on scene at 13.30. On arrival, crews found one vehicle had collided with a tree. The driver was then removed from the vehicle by firefighters and passed into the care of North West Ambulance Service paramedics.
The victim was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Merseyside Police also attended and have cordoned off the road. Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
