Driver in hospital after car flips onto roof in horror crash on Scots motorway

A car has flipped onto its roof following a horror crash on a Scots motorway this afternoon.

Emergency crews scrambled to the M90 southbound between junctions two and three, near Crossgates in Fife, after the alarm was raised at around 1.50pm on Sunday.

Ambulance crews attended and the 65-year-old male driver of the car was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy as a precaution.

Pictures taken from the scene showed the grey car upside down after it crashed on the busy motorway.

Another car could be seen stopped nearby while the smashed vehicle sat in the hard shoulder.

The road was quickly closed by police but it reopened at around 3.15pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.50pm on Sunday, April 23, we were called to a report of a single vehicle crash on the M90 southbound between junctions two and three.

"The 65-year-old male driver of the car was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy as a precaution.

"The road was fully reopened around 3.15pm."
